We originally planned to only stay one night but decided to extend our stay after the lovely home made breakfast made the following day. This stay has a true family feel from the moment you are greeted. It is a great way to gain a sense of the Sri Lanka culture and the view from the top of the mountain is amazing. Should you like advice of the best places to stay, the owner of the house can provide plenty as he used to be a tour guide for many years. They can even arrange pickup from the airport which is a BIG bonus as Kandy is generally one of the first stops when visiting this beautiful country.

The place is located on a green hill and has a very nice few over the city which you can enjoy from the balcony. Additionally, there are a lot of monkeys jumping around on the neighbour's rooftop. So the balcony is the highlight here. More than once we had no water in the bathroom. But all in all the room was okay. You can expect the owner to try and sell you trips at any occasion, even if you've told him that you're travelling on a budget several times. We found him a little too "caring" leaning over the table, watching us throughout the entire meal. They also offer to cook you dinner there but don't tell you what it'll cost in advance. At the end it turned out to be the most expensive dinner we had during our entire trip. But at least they won't let you starve if you come in late at night.

The owners are such lovely people ! Which is mostly important for a lovely holiday with absolutely wonderful food! It's home made and so fresh.. such a gorgeous view. Clean and a typical homely guest house. Value for money and I would definitely visit once again !!! Wishing sunny hill all the best ! Keep up the good work !

Good value of money. Excellent traditional Sri Lankan breakfast! Nice family who tries to make your feel like home. Owner speaks very good english and if you need help you will get it. Your holiday home locates up the hill and have a nice view. It is close to best view point of Kandy. Away from the noise and crowd, but close enough to walk to town. I walked there from train station carrying 25kg backpack, but I recommend to call the host or take tuk-tuk because hill is quite high.

We stayed 2 nights in Sunny Hills. Excellent hosts, very welcoming family atmosphere - breakfast is wonderful! We took a day trip with the hotel which was very good & comfortable. The room was basic, but comfortable and had free wifi. The views over Kandy are fantastic! Walkable into town - the lake is 10/15mins but you will need a tuk tuk to get back (300rps)
